Highlights of the Tour

Okavango Delta

Explore the majestic environment of the incredible Okavango Delta by boat and vehicle. Always a highlight of a Botswana safari holiday, the Okavango Delta offers a wonderful wildlife experience to really feel at-one with nature. Enjoy a traditional mokoro safari through the delta on this small-group guided tour of Botswana.

Moremi Game Reserve

Moremi Game Reserve has been described as one of the most beautiful wildlife reserves in Africa, with a great diversity of plant and animal life – making it a must-see for any Botswana safari. Moremi is part of the Okavango Delta which has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site. Winding through the channels of over 150 000 islands, Moremi is teeming with wildlife and offers one of the most unique African safari experiences.

Chobe National Park

Chobe National Park is well known for the beautiful Savuti region, a definite highlight on this section of our safari holiday in Botswana. On your Chobe safari, you will experience an incredible array of wildlife and birds. Witness one of the largest elephant herds in Africa and, in the dry season, possibly the annual zebra migration.

Hwange National Park

Hwange National Park boasts a tremendous selection of wildlife and over 100 species of birds. On your safari in Hwange look out for the 105 mammal species, including 19 large herbivores and eight large carnivores. All of the big five are found in Hwange. There’s also a good chance of spotting African Wild Dog in the park.

Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls has been called many things but is probably best described by its local Kololo name of ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ which translates to “The smoke that thunders”. It is a truly spectacular sight to see as it drops over 100 meters into the Zambezi gorge below. It is the largest waterfall in the world and a must-see on a safari in Zimbabwe.

Day 4

After breakfast, we head south, travelling via Maun to our second camp in the delta. It is situated in a private concession in the Greater Moremi area. This large expanse of pristine delta vegetation is renowned for its concentration of mammals. It is not unusual to see many different types of wildlife during a game drive. Game viewing is seasonal and depending on the time of the year, you may see different species in different areas. The best time for game viewing in the delta is towards the end of the dry season and spring from August to November. During this period we will drive further to get closer to the rivers and channels for the best game viewing. In the summer, the abundant birdlife often means exceptional sightings of wildfowl, waders and raptors. Depending on your time of arrival you will get to enjoy either a sunset game drive or an evening drive offering opportunities to spot elusive nocturnal creatures.

Leaving the Moremi bush behind us, we travel east towards the Makgadikgadi Pans on this leg of our Botswana safari. The area was once a large river-fed lake that has become saline and empty and incorporates a multitude of salt pans and vast grass plains dotted by palm islands. Together this forms the Great Makgadikgadi which is the largest area of salt pans in the world, covering some 37,000 square km. We arrive at our lodge on the edge of the pans in the late afternoon.

After breakfast, we continue our journey north to Kasane, the gateway to your safari into Chobe National Park. Chobe, which is the second-largest national park in Botswana and covers 10,566 square km, has one of the greatest concentrations of elephants found on the African continent. The afternoon is at your own leisure to partake in optional activities or to relax by the pool. Start your morning of day 9 with a spectacular game drive in Chobe National Park. You will return to the lodge for a late breakfast and chill time until your boat cruise on the Chobe River starts around 3 pm.
